Our intensive Full-Time and Part-Time Foundation Courses in tattoo artistry have been created to deliver over 80hrs+ of engaging technical and practical coaching in tattooing on Practice Skin whereas Intermediate Course offers access to LIVE models and the curriculum focuses on developing your skills on clients.

By following our unique learner journey, students will spend over 70% of their time in practical sessions, learning how to create designs which will be suitable for tattooing and will learn outlining, colouring and shading techniques as well as the ethics, history and legislation/regulations of professional Tattooing.

Students will also be taught how to dismantle and reassemble tattoo machines so that they get a deeper understanding of how they run - practicing on fake skin until they are ready to progress to a live tattoo.

Unique to The Tattoo Academy, our courses are accredited and regulated and students who pass our courses will be awarded a certified and accredited qualification in permanent tattooing.

n Week One of our Full-Time/Part/Time courses, students learning will start with the history of tattoing before progressing to theoretical and practical assessments in lining, shading and colouring techniques.

You'll learn about the importance of tattoo hygiene, consent forms and aftercare, Health & Safety (including infection control) and the licensing and industry registrations and with challenges, games and activities throughout, students will immerse themselves in an exciting and action packed week!

Residential students will be accommodated in one of our partner hotels and with group evening meals and activities you'll really get to understand our industry as you share the experience with friends.

Warning - a lot of drawing happens this week and it can be a shock to some to find out that tattooing is a profession that includes some drawing.

Following on from week one, students who progress to week two (Foundation Course) have another exciting and practical week of tattooing ahead.

Moving onto practice skin practical learning and the application of stencils on skin, students will develop the confidence and competence to demonstrate their skills with assessments, competitions, games and challenges, our students will progress to apprenticeship standard.

By now, you'll have made life-long friends, professional contacts and learned the basic skills to Tattoo safely, competently and with confidence.

It is a legal requirement that the tattoo artist and persons receiving a tattoo are +18years of age and we'll ask you to prove this.

We've also created a one-of-a-kind course which requires students to demonstrate practical and theoretical competence to complete the course.

It is not compulsory for you to have any experience or art qualifications, however we do ask that you have basic drawing skills - which we'll develop over the course (you can expect to spend 70% of your time with us drawing and tattooing)!

This course does NOT teach you how to draw but it will help you develop your own drawing style in tattoo form...don't worry... by the end of this course you'll leave us a better artist than when you joined!

You'll bring enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn to the course and in turn, we'll start your tattooing journey.

Students who are successful at passing our courses will recieve the UK's only accredited and recognised qualification in tattoo artistry recognised throughout the world..
